Wow. Leaving the theater, I was shocked by how great this movie was. Acting? Fire. Character development? Locked in. Imagery, design, storytelling? Delivered. The Dolby Atmos? FANTASTIC!

  Let’s talk about it!!!!

⚠️ Warning: Spoilers ahead.. I’m sorry in advance, but I got excited. ⚠️

🎧 Dolby Atmos

This film is packed with fantastic immersive moments. Not one scene felt like a bad representation of Atmos. Major kudos to the entire team on making sure this movie felt like an experience. An immersive masterpiece beginning to end. 

The soundtrack, filmscore, sound fx, placement, loudness, and emotion all HIT.

The immersive balance is clean, full & vibrant. Nothing felt missing: the front, height, rear & LFE were all put to great use! 

Going in I was slightly nervous. Another “Disney Atmos Mix”... but when the intro started to play, I remember thinking, “oh that’s a little bright”.. then it kicked in with the strings delicately wrapping around you. The next thing you know, BOOM! You hear city ambience followed by BOOM! We’re in the room with Mr. Fantastic in full chaos. It really felt like we were right there in the room!

What impressed me the most was the ambience you felt. Usually you get some generic room tone or noise. But here? I was on the couch watching Pedro Pascal lose his mind! Crazy. 

The Torch intro? Fantastic (punny right?). The panning follows him around the theater and when his flames start to rise it sounds and feels like flamethrowers! This is only the beginning. There are so many great moments I can talk about.. so I'm going to make a quick list before I end up describing every scene from the movie.🤣

🔊LFE

They did NOT miss. LFE was used to an immaculate taste. When Galactus was introduced it was incredible. When he touched down and the waves crashed as he began to crush earth, EPIC. It was terrifying the way that they actually made it feel as if this GIANT world destroyer was let loose in the theater. Throughout this whole film there was no bad use of LFE. 

🔊Loudness

I was so worried that this was going to be either over compressed (Maybe all front balanced) or from that first string hit thinking “oh this is going to be a sharp sounding few hours”. That all changed within moments when the film really began. Amazing immersive balance throughout its entirety. Incredible dynamic range! Being able to hear intimate whispers while running for your life as the earth shakes. They were able to show a great example of the amazing possibilities of Dolby Atmos. Incredible job to everyone involved delivering this sonic work of art. 

🎬 Favorite Moments in the Mix

There are actually so many. Nothing in this film disappoints. 

• Surprise Avatar Trailer: Didn’t see it coming!! If you were able to catch it, Atmos INSANE. 

• The Unforeseen Event: When I get superpowers, my soundtrack better hit like this!

• The Spaceship of the Enemy: If the enemy is moving like that.. Can we be friends instead??🤣

• Meeting Galactus: EPIC! Terrifying. Destroyer of planets makes sense. Definitely needs a hug.

• Challenging the Giant / Escaping the Blackhole: Beautiful Chaos.

• Having a baby!!!: Masterpiece. wonderful suspense, beautiful strings. Gold.

• Silver Surfer “Flame On”: Emotional, powerful. The voices surrounding us around Time Square? Stunning.

• Galactus Touch Down: If this is what a world destroyer touching down in NYC feels like.. keep them FAR AWAY!!! The emotion and feeling these parts of the film give feel so real.

• Scanning for the boy: Excellent panning & LFE combo

This film is a breath of fresh air! Not only for the Dolby Atmos, but for the level of detail and care across the board. The entire film is an immersive masterpiece.

Would I recommend this film in Dolby Atmos?

Absolutely. One thousand percent yes!!! Kick back and enjoy an immersive few hours with the Fantastic Four! Marvel delivered with this one.
