Billie & FINNEAS Did It Again…
Let’s not sugarcoat it this album is fantastic.Billie’s songwriting is as sharp and emotionally complex as ever, and FINNEAS’ production feels like it’s been dialed into your bloodstream.
The lyrics hit, the melodies haunt, and the recordings? Absolutely top-tier.But let’s talk about what we came here for, the Dolby Atmos experience.
Atmos Was Good… But Stereo Took the Crown
With an album this well-crafted, the expectation for the immersive mix was sky high. But listening to HIT ME HARD AND SOFT in Dolby Atmos left me… a little underwhelmed. Not disappointed, just surprised.
Here’s the thing:
The Atmos translation was clean and accurate.
But it didn’t take full advantage of the format’s storytelling power.
It still felt a little too “stereo,” like the mix hadn’t fully stepped into the immersive playground available to it.
And I say that with love because we know what Billie and FINNEAS are capable of. Remember Happier Than Ever in Atmos? That mix was crazy. That one had texture, space, and creative risk that left you craving more.
What Did Shine
The songs: Start to finish, no skips. Billie and FINNEAS are in rare form here.
The recordings: Immaculate detail. Every sound, breath, and whisper is intentional.
The stereo version: Absolutely stunning. It’s rich, warm, and emotionally moving.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t a knock, this is a benchmark. This album proves once again that Billie and FINNEAS are in a league of their own creatively. I just wanted the Atmos version to go harder to take more risks, to represent the album deeper in the format like we know they can. Still, this is a must-listen. Maybe… start with the stereo.
Final Rating:
💰💰💰 (3 out of 5 Bags)
Would I revisit it? Already have. Would I remix it in Atmos given the chance? In a heartbeat.
