I’ve Always Been a Fan of this Franchise, Growing Up With These Movies
Leaving the first showing, surviving the rebirth of some majestic and terrifying dinos, I was full of mixed feelings. On the upside, this film had great immersive moments and an amazing soundtrack and film score to boot. It had a great performance from an incredible cast, and a plot that we may be familiar with from 6 movies prior.. BUT who doesn’t love the thrill of a new age classic! I’ll let you decide on where the ranking falls for this new movie among the rest of them. Now, let's talk Atmos!
🦖 Dynamics From The Rustling of Tall Grass to The Quaking Roar of a Dinosaur
This film had great dynamics throughout the entire picture. Loud parts were truly felt, not just heard. In contrast, the silence felt loud. When all the characters had to stay silent to avoid turning into dinosaur snacks, not even “Dolores” made a peep! From the sound of big steps to little tiny ones, we felt each moment like we were really there with them on the island.
My first impressions from the very first scene, I immediately felt like nothing was over compressed. The intro was very immersive in the front half of the theater adding motion with all the strings coming in. The breakout gets your blood rushing and it puts you right in the lab.
The classic Jurassic film score makes its way sprinkled throughout the movie adding a touch of nostalgia and a lot of emotion.
👩🎨 Creativity at its Finest
The Atmos is extremely creative and follows the scenery very well throughout the entire film. When we enter the rebirth, you’re able to hear the ambiance of the scene. You’re placed right in the moment. We hear metadons zoom over us. You feel your seat shake like the ground is collapsing from underneath you. With such a gritty, wild, and thrilling film setting, all of these sounds are taken into account with what feels to me like a lot of thought. I appreciated the small details and approach.
📢 Another Fantastic Example of Great LFE Use
The use of LFE was really great!! You feel the waves crashing into your ship. The roars were loud and felt! Almost as terrifying as the footsteps you'd feel if one of these behemoths was walking towards you. The underwater chomp scene was absolutely incredible. Amazing use of LFE. The Atmos happening during this part was extremely tasty! Easily one of my favorite parts of the movie.
Final Thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed this film and found it to be one of the better ones in this franchise in the most recent years. I think it’s a great movie for families and for all ages to enjoy. I genuinely was thrilled and immersed throughout the entire thing from start to finish.
Was it the best, most groundbreaking, mind blowing Dolby Atmos experience I’ve had? No. But it was tastefully done and I appreciate many aspects of it. It was definitely solid work and had some very beautiful moments.
Final Rating:
💰💰💰💰 (4 out of 5 Bags)
I recommend you go see it for yourself, it is worth the watch, especially in Dolby.
